## Abstract

ABSTRACT
An integrated Structural Biology Core will be established to enable the Research Projects’ scientists
employing state-of-the-art tools for structural determinations from RNA, protein to virus and virus infected cells.
This Core is made up of three Subcores including protein production, x-ray crystallography and scattering, and
cryogenic electron microscopy and tomography. All the imaging and diffraction instruments are located at the
SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory campus of Stanford University while the protein production is embedded
in the ChEM-H Institute on the main campus. All of the facilities are maintained by experienced staff at SLAC
under the supervision of Drs. Chiu, Hedman, and Hodgson. The Core will be staffed by specialists to assist
and train the AViDD Center’s scientists in performing the structure characterizations to enable the design of
novel and effective antivirals against SARS-CoV-2 and other RNA viruses of pandemic potential.
