Abstract

PROJECT SUMMARY We are seeking to acquire supplemental funds to support the purchase of an incubator that will be used in our research that is currently funded by a R35 award. Our current R35 is aimed at uncovering genetic and molecular mechanisms that regulate neural stem cell proliferation decisions in response to dietary nutrient availability and the nutrient-regulated neuronal circuitry that controls these decisions. We use Drosophila melanogaster as a model system. In order to use Drosophila in a laboratory setting, a temperature, humidity, and light/dark cycle controlled incubator is needed to house the animals and for developmental staging experiments.
