## Abstract

Abstract:
Supplementary funds are requested from the NIGMS Diversity Supplement program to an
existing R35 MIRA award to support a Mexican-American graduate student, Leticia Beltran. The
funds are requested for two years, which should fund Leticia until the completion of her Ph.D.
Leticia is already a co-author on several high profile publications, and is preparing a first-author
paper. She is an ideal candidate for this program.
