Abstract

PROJECT SUMMARY/ABSTRACT Thomas J. Hope, PhD, Program Director has assembled the investigative team for this proposed PPG based on the talents and expertise of each project/core leader and co-investigator. This team is perfectly posed to address the overall aim of the program to “unravel the mechanisms of HIV persistence and rebound” by focusing on leveraging innovative technical advances as well as the latest data and findings by the team and outside collaborators. The Core main focus will be to stimulate scientific synergism and the discovery of new knowledge. The Administrative Core (Core A) will serve a critical function as a centralized resource to the Program, providing for the overall management, coordination, and supervision of the Program, while facilitating the interactions between the 3 Projects and the NHP Core (Core B), to guarantee this integrated Program’s success in achieving its objective. The Administrative Core will be located at NU and will be operated under the direct guidance of Dr. Hope as Program Director (PD). The administrative core will provide the essential, functionally-interactive infrastructure supporting all projects and scientific cores with program management including frequent and timely communication platforms, resource and data exchange, timeline and fiscal oversight, critical review of research progress, and engagement with the broader HIV/AIDS research community to ensure the success of the PPG scientific goals. By facilitating efficient and frequent communications as well as iterative interactions between all investigators, both junior and senior, the AC will catalyze PPG progress by enabling PIs to proactively incorporate the advances and avoid the unplanned hurdles discovered by their colleagues in this highly interactive set of 3 projects
