Abstract

Safeguarding the integrity of the samples, their associated information, and their corresponding data is of the utmost importance to the Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) and Metabolon. Accordingly, both BCM and Metabolon are amenable and flexible to the NHLBI preferences concerning sample chain of custody and secure data transfers. Our academic partner, with whom Metabolon has extensive working experience, also has these protocols in place due to their own extensive experience in receiving genomic samples. We are committed to working with NHLBI to provide confidence in our workflow for all TOPMed CORE projects. To meet the goals of this solicitation, we will provide a manual of operations, receive and manage plasma or serum samples from the BCM Human Genome Sequencing Center (HGSC) and the TOPMed Project Studies, transfer these samples to Metabolon or per NHLBI preference have Metabolon directly receive and manage samples while adhering to defined protocols and timelines, return normalized and analysis-ready metabolomics results to the Project Studies via the TOPMed IRC, provide necessary bi-weekly and close out reports, and participate in meetings to ensure the successful completion of our objectives. If requested, we can provide expertise and tools for analyzing heart, lung, blood and sleep-related phenotypes with these metabolomics data. The objectives of Task 5 outlined in the solicitation will be accomplished by pursing the following aims:
