## Abstract

ABSTRACT
The Arkansas IDeA Network for Biomedical Research Excellence (INBRE) seeks to expand biomedical
research capacity in the state of Arkansas. The Arkansas INBRE also facilitates access and training in cutting-
edge biomedical research resources to faculty and students at primarily undergraduate institutions (PUI) to
train the next generation of biomedical scientists. The Arkansas INBRE maintains its state-of-the-art status
by adding new and transformative technologies and by responding to emerging research trends within the
state. The technique of cryo-EM provides a clear intersection of a modern, transformative technology with an
escalating statewide research trend in structural biology. This equipment supplement seeks to provide a
critical computational resource that will allow the state of Arkansas to carry out the computational aspects of
cryo-EM structure determination. Increasing INBRE-supported cryo-EM research capacity and training will
ensure that Arkansas researchers and students have the necessary resources and skills to pursue cutting-
edge biomedical research on the atomic and molecular-level basis for human health and disease.
