Abstract

The Administrative Core (AC) is a mandatory core and, as in the past, will assume organizational and accounting responsibilities for the Wyoming INBRE program. For INBRE-5 a new Student Research Program (SRP) unit will oversee undergraduate research activities. To meet the goal of a statewide initiative to fully integrate and cross-fertilize biomedical research in Wyoming, the Administrative Core will be composed of the INBRE Principal Investigator/Program Director, Associate Director, Program Coordinator, SRP Director, Assessment Coordinator, Administrative Associate, and Fiscal Manager. With input from the Executive Committee, Steering Committee, and External Advisory Committee the Administrative Core will be responsible for the overall management of Wyoming INBRE activities, including: (i) facilitating communication among all Network constituents; (ii) coordinating training/mentoring for faculty and students; (iii) overseeing research and SRP activities; (iv) coordinating the activities of the governing committees; (v) leading the evaluation of the INBRE program; (vi) prioritizing infrastructure needs; (vii) ensuring access to state-of-the- art research facilities; (viii) providing conflict resolution; (ix) managing the INBRE budget; (x) preparing accurate and timely program and financial reports; (xi) and ensuring that INBRE activities are compliant with institutional, local, state, and federal regulations and requirements. The ultimate goals of the Wyoming INBRE Administrative Core are to continue to provide logistical support for the statewide network comprised of the University of Wyoming as the lead institution and the Wyoming community colleges as partner institutions to meet Wyoming INBRE’s Specific Aims. The top priorities and major objectives of the Administrative Core are structured around four Specific Aims: 1) The AC will provide effective leadership and management of the INBRE; 2) The AC will provide an SRP for CC and University of Wyoming (UW) undergraduates; 3) The AC will provide activities and events to support the SRP, DRPP, BC, and Network; 4) The AC will share and promote programs, resources, and opportunities available from other IDeA and NIH programs.
