Abstract

PROJECT SUMMARY – BIOSTATISTICS/BIOINFORMATICS CORE (CORE C) The Biostatistics/Bioinformatics Core (Core C) of the Hillman Cancer Center (HCC) HN SPORE provides services for the design of experiments and the analysis of in vitro, in vivo, clinical, translational and -omics data. The investigators and staff of both segments of the Core have significant experience in research in head and neck cancers, so that data are analyzed in the appropriate scientific context, increasing the Core's efficiency and effectiveness compared to general purpose data analysis services. Biostatistics and Bioinformatics combines classic statistical techniques with contemporary Bayesian, machine learning and genomics methods to ensure that every research project, Developmental Research Program and Career Development Program awardee in the SPORE has access to the most appropriate analyses. The Core will also work closely with Core A (OSD) and Core B to ensure that data flows between laboratories, clinics and analysts are efficient and that data and resource sharing can be effective and comprehensive. This Core C Co-Directors are Dr. Daniel Normolle (Biostatistics) and Dr. Riyue Bao (Bioinformatics) who have assembled an excellent team to help achieve the goals of the HN SPORE.
