> **NIH NIH N01** · ALBERT EINSTEIN COLLEGE OF MEDICINE · 2024 · $137,834

## Abstract

The primary goals for the HCHS baseline study are to examine the prevalence and development of disease in Hispanics/Latinos, the role of acculturation, and to identify risk factors that play protective or harmful roles in Hispanics/Latinos. This project will leverage the HCHS data to examine the genetic risk of suspected nonalcoholic fatty liver disease in Hispanic/Latino populations and to examine differences by genetic ancestry. It will expands on previous HCHS work in the area of the genetics of liver disease, while making the novel contribution of a multicohort pooling project to enhance statistical power and increase generalizability of findings. Dr. Trejo's specific research activities for this supplemental application will involve conducting data analyses, manuscript preparation using data available from the parent study, and genetic data management
and analysis that will expand on his previous work.
