Abstract

Modified Project Summary/Abstract Section This proposal is being submitted by the Third Coast Center for AIDS Research to support the continuation of the Implementation Science Coordination Initiative (ISCI). Led by Dr. Brian Mustanski and Nanette Benbow, ISCI has served as a national resource through coordination and technical support for the use of Implementation Science (IS) within the national Ending the HIV Epidemic (EHE) initiative, with the goal of maximizing the value of implementation science (IS) in EHE. Based on our infrastructure and strong collaborations forged with the Regional Consultation Hubs (RCH) over the last 4 years, under this application for a Coordination, Consultation and Data Management Center, we intend to expand our activities to provide support and scientific leadership in IS through three specific aims: (1) Enhance data collection systems and foster cross-project, cross-RCH collaboration to increase knowledge sharing. In collaboration with RCHs, we will refine our data collection systems to accurately capture implementation activities and findings from both projects and the RCHs, as well as develop new systems to collect more detailed data on implementation determinants, strategies, and outcomes. To promote collaborations and rapid dissemination, we will capitalize on multiple HIV and IS-related conferences to organize panels, pre-conference workshops, and symposia presenting EHE project findings. (2) Promote the development, integration, and diffusion of implementation research methods and findings through synthesis and dissemination of HIV-specific IS knowledge. We will identify common data elements (CDEs) for collection across projects and conduct integrated analyses. We will disseminate implementation determinants and strategies via our HIV D&I website and newsletter, conference presentations, a special JAIDS issue, a webinar series in collaboration with RCHs to facilitate timely dissemination of EHE project findings, and identify effective methods of dissemination with input from a broad group of experts. (3) Advance D&I in the field of HIV through training, technical assistance, and mentorship for academic, community, and federal stakeholders within EHE. We will collaborate with RCHs to develop a cross-regional mentoring network focused on HIV and implementation science to facilitate connection of early-stage investigators to relevant mentorship teams, as well as develop and offer IS training tailored to implementation practitioners. Because ISCI will support all projects funded under EHE, it will address all 4 pillars (diagnose, treat, protect, and respond), and our work is aligned with high-priority topics in the NIH HIV/AIDS Research Priorities, particularly implementation research to improve HIV testing, entry into prevention and treatment services, and achievement and maintenance of optimal prevention and treatment responses; and the cross-cutting area of research training of the workforce required to co...
