New tool/method development is a critical component of DTTs scientific information management for activities related to literature-based evaluations, necessitated by the volume of literature to review, complex designs, and varying levels of reporting of research studies in the literature. In addition, the need to prepare high quality text and graphics necessitates these activities. New tool development projects have involved development of methods to assess impact of variations in study design when assessing consistency across studies and publication bias; a tool for linking multiple controlled vocabularies for dataset comparison and other processes related to environmental health vocabulary; and development of tools and methods to support the Report on Carcinogens. Keywords: systematic review, novel tools.
