This program is designed to support the goals of the All of Us Research Program including the research priorities of Tribes and urban Indian communities. A primary objective, as a federal awardee, is to uphold and facilitate the essential government-to-government relationship between the United States and Tribes. This will be achieved by fostering partnership with interested Wisconsin tribes and organizations with expertise in working with tribes and urban Indian communities. The proposed aims and work plan outline a scientifically inclusive engagement process, educational initiatives, and development of research infrastructure. These components guarantee the project’s adherence to relevant and respectful tribal customs, culture, and laws. We will leverage the established relationships and resources afforded by the Marshfield Clinic Research Institute, University of Wisconsin Madison and the Medical College of Wisconsin. Each AoU-WI Consortium partner has research and institutional programs that support students, investigators, health and education programs throughout Wisconsin, including Indigenous and Urban Indian communities, facilitating a comprehensively engaged program and research effort. Our objective is to collaborate with Tribal Nations and American Indian and Alaska Native leaders in community health, social service organizations, and other key community partners. Their partnership and guidance will be crucial in ensuring this work provides the greatest value to communities throughout Wisconsin. Successful achievement of these aims will provide a firm foundation for defined priorities and activities within the All of Us Research Program through individually designed programs that reflect the unique goals and priorities of Tribes. This will also ensure sustainability of precision medicine research by researchers and experts, contingent upon the Tribes' consent to participate and their right to withdraw participation and consent at any time in the process.
