Abstract

This contract supports the All of Us Research Program (AoURP), a Precision Medicine initiative at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), an agency within the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). The AoURP is intended to reflect the rich diversity of America, ensuring that enrollment is open and accessible to all groups, including but not limited to socioeconomic, racial/ethnic, ancestral backgrounds, age, sex and gender, geographic, ability/disability, etc. As such, one of the key points of consideration during Program enrollment is ensuring that members of communities which have been historically underrepresented in biomedical research (UBR) are included in this cohort. For instance, even though 16 percent of the population are Hispanic and 11 percent are African American, one investigation of clinical trial participants found only 1 percent are Hispanic and 5 percent are African American. To address this gap, this work is focused on identifying ways to improve how FQHC (Federally Qualified Health Center) Health Provider Organizations (HPOs) successfully engage, enroll, and maintain full participation of members of the population they serve.
