Six sites of the NIH NeuroBioBank collect and distribute post-mortem human brain tissue for neuroscience research. It is critical to provide as much information about the samples to the researchers as possible. One important aspect is to know if any pharmacological substances are detectable in the specimens before distribution for research purposes. Either blood samples or brain tissue samples are sent to NMS for analysis. All samples are assayed by a single vendor to ensure consistency of results across sites and provides cost savings to the government.
