# A Language Digital Learning Repository

## Abstract

This project seeks to establish a central, searchable, and lasting digital platform that allows for accessibility to language resources, providing machine-readable infrastructure (e.g., lexicons, grammars, databases) for developing AI models and mitigating language loss. Through an interdisciplinary approach, the investigators gather and analyze language data to better understand grammatical structures, support educational material development, and archive materials for future use. The project is translational in its application of linguistic theory and methodology to develop new tools and access to language materials. Developing an accessible digital language platform supports documentation and wide use of linguistic data, which can enhance educational and employment outcomes of the population.

The digital repository established through this project prioritizes language needs and include (i) a searchable online dictionary, (ii) transcriptions, translations, morphosyntactic and conversation analyses, and cultural contextualizations of previously recorded data, (iii) digital copies of publicly available linguistic scholarly texts, and (iv) pedagogical grammatical resources including root word analyses, conjugation charts, vocabulary lessons, conversational dialogues, and particle references.

This award reflects NSF's statutory mission and has been deemed worthy of support through evaluation using the Foundation's intellectual merit and broader impacts review criteria.
