## Abstract

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is amending the food additive regulations to provide for the safe use of alpha-acetolactate decarboxylase (<greek-a>-ALDC) enzyme preparation derived from Bacillus subtilis, modified by recombinant deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) techniques to contain the gene coding for <greek-a>-ALDC from B. brevis, for use as a processing aid to produce alcoholic malt beverages and distilled liquors. This action is in response to a petition filed by Novozymes North America, Inc. (formerly Novo Nordisk Bioindustrials, Inc.).
