Abstract
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is publishing this final rule to establish July 1, 1995, as the date on which it will apply the mandatory nutrition labeling and nutrient content claims provisions of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (the act) to dietary supplements of vitamins, minerals, herbs, and other similar nutritional substances (hereinafter referred to as dietary supplements). This action is in accordance with the Dietary Supplement Act of 1992 (the DS act) and the Nutrition Labeling and Education Act of 1990 (the 1990 amendments), which allows the Secretary of Health and Human Services (the Secretary) (and, by delegation, FDA) to delay, for up to 1 year, the date on which FDA applies those provisions to foods (including dietary supplements) if the agency finds that compliance with them would cause ``undue economic hardship.''
