## Abstract

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is amending its regulations to prohibit the use of tin-coated lead foil capsules (i.e., coverings for the cork and neck area) on wine bottles. Lead in these capsules may, as a result of their intended use, become a component of the wine. FDA is taking this action to reduce exposure to lead to the extent feasible.
