## Abstract

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is granting exemptions from Federal preemption for certain cigarette and smokeless tobacco requirements in Alabama, Alaska, and Utah. These exemptions will permit those States to continue to enforce certain restrictions on the sale and distribution of cigarettes and smokeless tobacco that are more stringent than FDA counterpart restrictions under its regulations.
