## Abstract

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is overruling the objection that it has received on the final rule that amended the food additive regulations to provide for the safe use of acesulfame potassium (ACK) as a nonnutritive sweetener in alcoholic beverages. After reviewing the objection to the final rule, the agency has concluded that the objection does not provide a basis for revoking the amendment to the regulation. Therefore, FDA is confirming the effective date for the final rule. The final rule was issued in response to a food additive petition filed by Hoechst Celanese Corp.
