Abstract
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is issuing regulations to implement provisions of the Public Health Service Act authorizing the NIH Clinical Research Loan Repayment Program for Individuals from Disadvantaged Backgrounds. The purpose of the program is the recruitment and retention of highly qualified health professionals, who are from disadvantaged backgrounds, to conduct clinical research as employees of the NIH by providing repayment of qualified educational loans.
