The Federal Trade Commission is publishing in final form a number of documents that it is required to issue by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), which was significantly amended by the recently enacted Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act. These are: A summary of the rights under the FCRA of victims of identity theft; a general summary of consumer rights under the FCRA; a notice of the duties of persons that furnish information to consumer reporting agencies; and a notice of the duties of users of information obtained from consumer reporting agencies. These documents will be distributed by consumer reporting agencies and others to consumers and to businesses that either use information obtained from consumer reporting agencies or furnish information to consumer reporting agencies.
