The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service) determines endangered status for Spring Creek bladderpod pursuant to the Endangered Species Act of 1973, as amended (Act). This rare plant is presently known from only a limited area within Tennessee's Central Basin. It is threatened by habitat alteration; residential, commercial, or industrial development; livestock-grazing; conversion of its limited habitat to pasture; and habitat encroachment by woody vegetation and herbaceous perennials.
