## Abstract

OSM is approving a proposed amendment to the Maryland regulatory program (hereinafter referred to as the ``Maryland program'') under the Surface Mining Control and Reclamation Act of 1977 (SMCRA). Maryland proposed revisions and additions to rules and statutes pertaining to remined areas. The amendment is intended to revise the Maryland program to be consistent with the corresponding Federal regulations and SMCRA.
