State Program Amendments

The Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement (OSM) is amending its regulations by revising the information currently reported in the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) regarding the OSM Director's approval of amendments to State regulatory programs and abandoned mine land reclamation plans (hereafter State program amendments). This information is being condensed to a three-column tabular presentation providing the dates when State program amendments were originally submitted to OSM, the dates the OSM Director's decision approving all or portions of these amendments were published in the Federal Register, and the State citations affected by the amendments. This rulemaking will reduce the number of unnecessary pages in the CFR and make it a more useful document. As always, people interested in getting copies of the full text of the amended State regulatory program or abandoned mine land reclamation plan can contact the State regulatory authority office or the OSM field office with oversight authority for that State.
