IT IS BELIEVED THAT A METHANE IGNITION HAS OCCURRED ON THE C-3 LONGWALL FACE, IN THE AREA OF SHIELD NO. 168. AT THE TIME OF THE IGNITION THE SHEARER WAS CUTTING THE BI-D, TOWARD THE HEAD, AND 24"" OF ROCK WAS PRESENT IN THIS AREA OF THE FACE
