AT 2:30 PM 2/1/02 A GAS IGNITION OCCURRED IN A SEALED AREA IN THE 2ND EAST PORTION OF THE BIG RIDGE #2 MINE. ALL PERSONNEL UNDERGROUND AT THE TIME OF THE IGNITION WERE SAFELY EVACUATED TO THE SURFACE.
