A FRICTION-CAUSED METHANE IGNITION OCCURRED IN THE FACE AREA OF THE 48 BUTT EAST BELT DRIVE AREA BETWEEN 3-4 CROSSCUT. IGNITION LASTED LESS THAN 20 SECONDS & WAS EXTINGUISHED BY THE WATER SPRA YS ON THE MINER. THERE WERE NO INJURIES OR EQUIPMENT DAMAGE.
