Miner was inspecting work area, sounding and barring as he advanced. Piece of loose came out from arch of footwall falling approx. 7'. Ground support had already been installed and the rock hit and bounced off a ground support mat already in place and stuck miner on left foot. Miner was wearing steel toed metataursal mine boots. Fractured the 2nd and 3rd metataursal bones.
