Using a cutting torch, a welder had cut too far into an overhead metal plate without leaving an uncut portion as ""safety margin"" for final, assisted cut. The plate broke free and struck welder in right eyelid in a swing-type motion. Upper eyelid was torn in a ""V""-shape requiring sutures.
