Narrative

A maintenance mechanic stepped off process piping and his left foot opened a 1-1/2 inch drain valve. Hot caustic came out of the drain valve and got onto his left calf, causing first degree and second degree burns to contacted area. Area size was 2 inches by 3 inches. No lost time or restricted duty.
