A co-worker was cutting tire brackets off of the lower fairlead on Dragline 28. EE was holding the plate so it would not fall. Once cut, he put it down. He lost his hold; it slipped and smashed his fingers. The rough edge of the plate caught his glove & prevented him from getting his hand free. Sutures to ring & middle fingers; fracture to tip of ring finger. Aggravated a hernia.
