## Narrative

Employee stepped off of firing floor while giving crane signals.  Fell roughly 15 ft.  Normal procedure not followed and caution tape tied across opening instead of rope which is normally used.  Employee suffered fracture to L3 vertebrae.  MSHA notified at 3:30 pm.
