Employee was walking outby to the power center when the trailing cable of a shuttle car going inby tensioned when a trailing cable loop came off the reel and got logged on the chain sprocket. The cable broke apart at a splice and the cable struck the victim in the mouth. Cause of this injury was mechanical. Miner knowledge a factor, equip a factor, mining laws/rules not a factor.
