The miner was splitting a rock with hammer and wedge. A sliver from the wedge struck the miner in the arm. The sliver hit a vein, so we sent him to the doctor to make sure that there was not a serious problem and to make sure the bleeding stopped. The doctor felt that the cut had been well cleaned at the quarry and that the metal still in the arm was not worth removing.
