Employee was helping to change damaged bit inserts on a miner drum. When he hit the top of the bit insert a piece of slag flew striking him in the neck area. Cause of this injury was safety awareness and not removing the slag. Compliance with rules/regs not a factor, protective equip. not a factor, miner knowledge a factor, mining systems could be a factor.
