EE was using an 8 pound sledge hammer to knock out a stopping, which was approx. 9 feet in height, with a pilaster in the center. EE turned to walk away, when a loose block fell from the top, striking his right thumb, which smashed his thumb against the hammer handle. Results: Fracture to the thumb. No lacerations. Hand was protected by the metacarpal glove.
