At 5:40 AM the #1 service hoist experienced an electrical problem which caused the hoist to trip out. After investigating the cause of the electrical problem, the miners were brought out utilizing the #2 skip hoist. The fault interfered with the use of the #1 service hoist for more than 30 minutes. Two escapeways were maintained during this time and MSHA was notified.
