While drilling a hole, a piece of shale fell from the roof, striking him on the left foot. Witnesses estimated the shale to be approximately 2? X 2' X 3?. The operator was transported by private vehicle to Memorial Hospital, where he was diagnosed as having a hairline fracture to the second metatarsal in his left foot.
