He was operating the longwall shearer when a piece of rock fell from between the #12 shield, struck the tailgate drum, flew from the tailgate drum and struck him on the left hand, causing contusions to the hand and amputation of the tip of the small finger.-per call-loss of finger to back end of fingernail-per call W.
