Employee was using a hammer to pounding against a metal drill chuck and a piece of metal flew off sticking him in his lower leg. Cause of this injury was safety awareness and knowledge. Compliance with rules/regs was not a factor, protective equipment not a factor, miner knowledge could be a factor, mining equipment/systems not a factor.
