The EE was assisting arch assembly on the invert during slope construction. A 3"" yellow mine discharge pipe had become frozen. Air from a surface mounted air compressor had been applied to the discharge line to remove the ice. When the ice exited the pipe, it caused the pipe to recoil, striking the EE at the knee. X-rays were negative for broken bones.
