## Narrative

While changing miner bits with a hammer a piece of the hammer broke off striking his left palm near the base of the thumb. The fragment remained in the wound. He was transported to Springfield Memorial ER where the fragment was removed. After a follow up visit to his physician 8/23/2010 he returned to unrestricted duty.
