The injured miner was working on a shuttle car using a chisel to wedge in between a sprocket and the motor housing to get the pinion off. A part of the tooth chipped off and embedded in the palm of his left hand. (Wearing nylon gloves) Four (4) days later he had to have surgery to remove a small piece of metal in the hand.
