## Narrative

Employee was removing a bearing race that was ""galled"" to the shaft.  The metal had been burned/cut with a torch in two places.  The helper proceeded to strike the race with a  4-lb hammer to release it from the shaft. A small piece of metal flew off and struck employee in the left thigh which resulted in a puncture wound and the metal being lodged in his leg.
