At 5:00pm a grass/tree fire entered the mine premises at the north end of the D4 area. The origin and cause of the fire is unknown. The north end of the pit was evacuated at 11:00pm due to reduced visibility from smoke. Local fire departments and Texas Forestry Department were called. The fire was contained at approximately 6:00am on 9/6/11. No injuries or equipment damage.
