While re-supporting and roof bolting was adding drill steel extensions when a piece of rock approximately 18"" in diameter fell and struck him on the left thumb smashing it against the drill pot. Treatment included surgery to re-attach tendon to the bone and sutures to close lacerations. His hand is casted and he was released to work with restrictions.
