## Narrative

While trying to remove a piece of slate rock from the top of the continuous miner, the operator suffered a laceration to his left forearm. The employee was shoving the rock with his hands whenever a piece of the rock fragmented, allowing his one hand to slip free, exposing his arm to the sharp rock. The laceration required 3 sutures to close.
