## Narrative

Employee was attempting to raise the flip up shield on the continuous miner and as he was lifting the shield his foot slipped causing him to let go of the shield in order to catch himself. This resulted in the shield coming down and mashing the employer's hand. The employee received a crack to the 3rd metacarpal bone of the hand.
