## Narrative

The IE employee stated he was driving a connector link on a conveyor chain on the #18 continuous miner.  He stated he was using a 15lb. sledge hammer to drive the connecting link to the strap.  While striking the link a piece of metal struck the employee in the right arm approximately 3"" above the wrist.  IE had surgery to extract the metal from his arm.
